The elderly are the bedrock of our society holding knowledge of ages. The celebration first made its ground breaking debut on the 1st October 1991. This is a special holiday that celebrates the elderly, their contribution to the society and issues that directly affects them such as elder abuse. This is a holiday that is recognized and respected by the world for its remarkable accomplishment over the years of ensuring the involvement of the elderly in our society and celebrating them.
We at Asha Hope Amanaki (AHA) are passionate about the elderly and their needs. Hereby, we see this as an exciting opportunity to laud their efforts by letting them know we care for them. Given to the fact that our purpose is to serve the marginalized and vulnerable, ensuring that their fundamental access to food, health, education and socialization is provided.
For this cause, we have decided to reach out to the elderly to commemorate their day on 1st October 2022. To enable this we are collaborating with elderly care facilities around the Portland Metro region to ensure that their needs would be catered for appropriately. We will be gifting animal shaped Origami to the elderly. By September 15th, we hope to cross the 3000 mark and we have already received 2000 Origami requests.
You can also get involved by volunteering with us or contribute to your community by giving back to the elderly through visiting them on October 1st. Giving gifts, words of appreciation and just making sure they feel as loved as they are, include some of the ways you can contribute. This is a beautiful way of growing the tradition of love and celebrating growing up.
We are excited for this day and all that it brings, hope you are to.
